TASMANIAN EMERGING
CURATOR FUND
The Tasmanian Emerging Curator Fund (TECF) is a pilot funding program administered by CAST on behalf of a consortium of Tasmanian public galleries, including: Academy Gallery, Arts Alive, Burnie Regional Art Gallery, Carnegie Gallery, Contemporary Art Services Tasmania (CAST), Design Centre, Tasmania, Devonport Art Gallery, Inflight, Plimsoll Gallery, Salamanca Art Centre and Tasmanian Regional Arts.
The TECF aims to foster curatorial activity in the Tasmanian public gallery sector. The funds are recognition for the considerable time and expertise that curators and exhibition coordinators contribute in developing professional-level group exhibition projects. The fund also aims to assist access for more artists in public exhibition programs in Tasmania.
Emerging curators and/or coordinating artists are encouraged to apply.
Support of $1000.00 towards five projects is available.
Applicants require evidence of support from the proposed venue and TECF applications must be signed-off by the host organisation.
Selection criteria:
- Merit of curatorial premise and frame
- The project's potential to contribute to and expand exhibition programs in Tasmania
- Increase to existing knowledge, skills and experience levels of the curator and, where applicable, to participating artists
- Demonstrated abilities of project personnel to deliver a professional level exhibition
Preference will be given to projects that increase opportunities for emerging Tasmanian artists.
Exhibitions including more than one organization are encouraged.
Exhibition proposals that include Tasmanian artists exhibiting in a national context (ie. alongside interstate artists and/or as part of a touring exhibition) are eligible to apply for support to assist with expenses incurred during the research phase of the project through CAST's Exhibition Development Fund (EDF).
Deadline for applications: 30 June 2007
