CAST Gallery
laughter...a magical force that inspires, and is inspired by, all forms of humour: the macabre, deadpan, irony, slapstick, camp, dark comedy, absurd, mordant, dry wit, gallows humour, burlesque, parody, satire, caricature, kitsch, sarcasm, carnivalesque, the comic, etc... a playful enigma which welcomes all and rejects none. In this moment of play, a world of wonderment is created. As a consequence the curatorial premise of this exhibition is informed but not restricted by the ideas raised in Georges Bataille's essay, Un-knowing: Laughter and Tears, and Mikhail Bakhtin's book, Rabelais and His World.
