During his career as a filmmaker, Hobart-based media artist Raef Sawford became interested in exploring the possibilities of the moving image beyond a traditional linear form. Using multiple projections, screen-based objects and video-stills, his work explores relationships between time, space and technology, through the fragmentation and expansion of time-based media. He is currently undertaking a PhD in E-media at the University of Tasmania’s School of Art, and during this time has exhibited in a number of group shows, including CAST Gallery, MONA FOMA, The Plimsoll Gallery, University of Tasmania and The Australian Portrait Gallery, Canberra.
