Scott Morrison is an audiovisual artist based in Sydney, Australia. His practice is primarily based upon the synergistic properties of the seen and heard. His most recent output has been focused upon the abstraction and re-imagining of Australia’s moving image landscape, where the sights and sounds of rural occurrence are rendered anew. This body of work has been exhibited, performed and screened extensively both nationally and abroad. The work as a whole lives under the title of “ballad(s) for quiet horizons”. Morrison is interested in how familiar experience can be re-imagined, transformed anew and this in turn allowing for interpretations and appreciations that are not prescribed by his own approach and thematic concerns. Morrison is currently in canditure for a Research Masters with the College of Fine Arts, UNSW. He has presented his practice at the National Gallery of Australia (Fullscreen, 2005) and various academic and cultural institutions nationally. He has lectured for the Australian National University (2005) and provided guest lectures for various universities throughout Australia. In 2009, his work was presened at the Tate Modern as part of the touring exhibition "Figuring Landscapes" which also toured extensively throughout the United Kingdom and parts of Australia. His works have been showcased at various international video festivals since 2003, and his gallery work nationally since 2004.
