Louisa Bufardeci’s recent exhibitions include, The Auckland Triennial, Auckland, New Zealand, 2004,(with David Young), Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne, 2003 and The Unbearable Weight of Ordinary Thing,Street Arts Complex, Santa Monica, California, USA, 2003. In 2003-4 Bufardeci was a recipient of the Asialink Visual Arts/Craft Residency Program, India and in 2004 she received an Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship. Her clear and undemonstrative methods are superbly illustrated in a public artwork commissioned by the City of Melbourne for their Temporary Laneways Projects 2001-02. Entitled There are a few facts I think you ought to know, this work consists of brightly coloured abstract graphs stretching the entire laneway, based on the statistical data and demographics of the people of Melbourne.
