Rosemary O’Rourke lives and works in Hobart, Tasmania. She primarily uses cloth and thread in her work to craft small sculptural objects by hand. She has exhibited her work throughout Australia including her solo show Objects of Vertu at Craft Victoria, Melbourne, 2003, CAST Gallery, Hobart and Craft ACT, Canberra, in 2004. She has also participated in a variety of group exhibitions, ranging from major craft survey exhibitions through to key contemporary artist-run-initiative projects in Australia and overseas.
O’Rourke has participated in residencies in Paris and Rome and completed a Master of Fine Art at the UTAS Tasmanian School of Art in 2006, culminating in the solo exhibition Materialising Ritual at the Plimsoll Gallery, Hobart, Tasmania.
Rosemary O’Rourke’s work is represented at collections at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart, Tasmania, The University of Wollongong in New South Wales and the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery in Launceston, Tasmania.
