Megan Walch graduated with honours from the University of Tasmania’s School of Art, Hobart in 1989. She completed a Master of Fine Arts at the San Francisco Art Institute on an Anne and Gordon Samstag Scholarship in 1997. Megan is an alumnus of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, New York, and of the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation’s Space Program, New York, from 1998-99.Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Australia, including Wilderness, curated by Wayne Tunnicliffe, Art Gallery of New South Wales March 2010, Kindle and Swag - The Samstag Effect, curated by Ross Wolfe, University of South Australia Art Museum 2004, and Primavera 2000, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. In 2000 she was winner of the Condrad Jupiters Art Prize.Megan has had residencies at an Australia Council studio at Taipei National University for the Arts, 2002, and with Asialink at Khon Kaen University, Thailand, 2004. She received a New Work Grant from the Australia Council in 2005. Her work is represented by Nellie Castan Gallery, Melbourne and Criterion Gallery, Hobart. She lives and works in Hobart, Tasmania.
