Richard Skinner graduated with a BFA in furniture designat the Tasmanian School of Ar, 1987. In 1993 he travelled to Japan for 5 months after being awarded a residency at the Australian Council's Tokyo studio. His interest in reusing materials started in 1995 when he began working part-time at the Resource TipShop. Currently, Richard is researching the utilization of low grade, reusable materials in the context of contemporary furniture design within a Masters program at the University of Tasmania. Within an aesthetic of simplicity, he aims to create objects that both minimalise their impact on the world while also erncouraging engagement with the user.
