Sieglinde Karl-Spence

Sieglinde Karl-Spence (born 1943) spent her childhood in Germany before emigrating to Australia with her family in 1953. She now lives and works in Launceston. Sieglinde trained as a jeweller, graduating with a Diploma from Middlesex Polytechnic, London, in 1978. Since the late 1980s, her practice has focused on installation and performance, using a broad range of textile and fibre techniques, and she regularly produces work of a site-specific or transitory nature. She has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally. Sieglinde’s work is represented in public collections nationally and internationally including National Gallery of Australia as well as private collections.
