Pippa Dickson moved to Tasmania from W.A in 1997 to study a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Furniture Design at the Tasmanian School of Art. After completing an Honours degree she was awarded an Australian Postgraduate Award to undertake her PhD, ‘Emotion in Transit; Furniture for and about Transit Areas’. Inspired by elements of aircraft design and research into international airport departure areas, her PhD involves one-off or limited batch furniture pieces for public spaces. In recent years Pippa has undertaken the role of Project Officer Design at Arts Tasmania, establishing and coordinating Young Designers Month for three consecutive years and Design Island from 2005.
