Sonia Heap has been possessed with an interest in dress for much of her life - her initial research and creative work were in theatre production and costume.  Costume design makes explicit the underlying assumptions of everyday dress, and an interest in this led Sonia to embark on postgraduate study. She continues this exploration in her current design work.

Sonia has most recently exhibited her new work in Design Island: New Horizons 2007 and the Hobart Fringe Festival 2006 and 2007.
