The current ceramics practice of Rudolf Sibrava has its origins in the work of Artisan Studio Ceramics, which was established in Launceston in 1989 as a working partnership with Lisa Boyter. Prior to establishing Artisan Studio Rudolf completed Associate Diploma in Art, Ceramics at TSIT, Launceston, (1986-87) and studies towards a BFA in ceramics at the University of Tasmania, Launceston (1988-89). In addition, he completed a Business Studies program at TAFE Launceston (1989). The production focus of Artisan Studio was terra cotta domestic ware and Crater glazed vases and decorative plates, with sales through retail outlets including Habitat, Hobart and Diamaru, Melbourne. At the beginning of the 1990s Artisan Studio moved to a former apple packing shed at Robigana in the Tamar valley, and Artisan Gallery was established as an adjunct to the studio practice. Since around 2000 Rudolf has primarily sold and exhibited work under his own name, focussing on hand thrown vessels. Over the last two decades Rudolf's work has been exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions including Artisan Studio Ceramics (Design Centre of Tasmania, Launceston, 1990), New Work- Rudolf Sibrava & Lisa Boyter (Handmark Gallery, Hobart,1991), Feature Artist - NW Art Society Annual Exhibition Burnie Regional Art Gallery (2003) and Four Statements Artisan Gallery (2006). His work is held in the collections of The Australian Embassy in Beijing and the Devonport Regional Art Gallery.
