INDECO
Location: Tasmania

Patrick Senior and his wife Mieke Senior-Loncin established INDECO in 1992 after the completion of a NEIS (new enterprise incentive scheme) course. The main emphasis of INDECO is the design and production of kitchenware including ladles, spice mills, coffee grinders, cheese boards and related products. The entire range of work is designed and hand made by Patrick at their Swan Point workshop, while Mieke takes care of packaging and marketing. Prior to establishing INDECO Patrick completed an Associate Diploma of Applied Design (wood) at Tasmanian State Institute of Technology, Launceston (1985-87), gaining further wood production skills at James Bradleys Furniture Makers, where he was employed from 1989-1991. A number of INDECO's products have been acquired for the Tasmanian Wood Design Collection, including soup and sauce ladles (1993), salad servers and bookends (1995) the 'cubist mill, salt cellar and spoon (1999) and the 'rocket mills' (2006). Patrick's work for INDECO has been included in a number of key exhibitions including Divergent Utopias (CAST, Hobart 2000), Inside Design 1 (Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery, Launceston 2004), and Design Island (Sydney Opera House, Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery and Design Centre Tasmania, 2004). INDECO won 'Premiers Excellence Awards' at the Tasmanian Craft Fair in 2000, 2003 and 2004, and were finalists in the 2005 Memento Awards with the 'toast to opera' toast rack and the 'downunder' coaster/trivet.
